"Let Go" of the How

This time of year, we let go of clutter. Bad relationships. Unwanted pounds.

I’m going to talk about a concept many people struggle with when it comes to manifesting the life of their dreams – letting go of the process.

Do you know someone like this?
Jessie wants to start a business. But first, she has to do her research. Search for the perfect domain name. Wait, let’s ask a focus group about the top five choices. Oh, they’re all sold? Start over.

Now she needs start-up capital. A 40-page business plan. Hmm. Is this the right target demographic? Maybe not. Let’s research 10 other groups who may be interested. Now, even though she spent 3 weeks researching competitors, she may have missed one. Let’s go back and start over with that.

And all the while Jessie is researching, others are convincing her that her business will fail, giving her reasons why it’s silly to even think she could do it. Her own doubt weighs heavy in her mind. By the time she launches this business, if she ever does, she’ll have a mindset of failure, not success. Even more likely, she’ll have talked about “starting a business” so often, for so long, that she’ll be stuck there, forever “starting a business,” but never actually transitioning to the title of “business owner.”

It’s important to do due diligence when embarking on any endeavor. But I know people who have been talking about starting a business for 15 years. Researching. Thinking. Filling notebooks with ideas. Meanwhile, they are still stuck in that 9-to-5.

Trust the Process of Manifesting
Whether you’re starting a business, saving for  a home, or even just buying a car (which is apparently such a difficult transaction that they now have a reality show where experts help people select vehicles…) it’s important to have a map and to know your goal destination. You need to set your intention and focus on it.

But at some point, you have to let go. If you remain laser-focused on the “How,” you can miss opportunities you never even dreamed of. Let God, the Universe, Fate, whatever you want to call this Greater Power, take care of the “how.” Don't worry about it. Just take action toward your goal, and then let go of micro-managing the process or worrying that it won't work out. It will. Remember, you are putting it in the hands of the Universe.

You’ll be amazed at the results.

Or do you have trouble letting go? Do you always want to guide the process and follow an exact plan? Do you think letting go could work for you?
